Is America in Danger of God’s Judgment in 2021?

God is abounding in love, patient, and slow to anger. But He cannot hold back His wrath on rebellious, sinful nations or individuals forever if He is to be just and holy. God’s judgment must eventually fall on those who hate Him and rebel against Him.

He did not spare Israel and He will not spare America or other nations.

Throughout the Old Testament, we see the same patterns over and over again. Nations rebel and sin against God. He gives them time to repent. Often, He sends prophets to warn the people to turn from their sin.
Eventually, a nation’s sin reaches a level of “ripeness” (Amos 8) and His wrath must come. It is too late for repentance at that point.

What sins trigger God’s righteous judgment on a nation?

The biggest reasons God’s wrath came on nations include:

  • Idolatry (people trusting themselves and the works of their hands, worshipping things other than the Lord).
  • Sexual immorality (sexual activity outside of God’s biblical design for marriage).
  • Lack of proper care and justice for the poor.
  • Celebration and glorification of sin.
  • Hatred and mockery of the word of God.
  • Blasphemy against God.
  • Child sacrifice (killing babies and offering them to idols, abortion is a type of child sacrifice, as well).
  • Mistreating Israel.
  • Greed and covetousness.
  • Oppression of certain people and groups (like children, orphans, widows, the poor, and foreigners).
  • Religious show and hypocrisy. (People’s hearts are far from God.)
  • Corrupt religious leaders.
  • Israel’s rejection of the Messiah, Jesus.
  • No righteous people remaining in the nation/city.

This list should be very sobering to us because most of these sins are happening in America today. And instead of repenting as a nation, we seem hellbent on rebelling even more and spitting in God’s face even more.

What kinds of judgement does God bring on sinful nations?

Generally, God’s judgment comes in the form of one or more of the following:

  • Military defeat
  • Evil and/or incompetent kings/rulers
  • Plagues
  • Drought
  • Famine
  • Death from wild beasts
  • Natural disasters

Eventually, God will pour out His full wrath on nations during the 7-Year Tribulation period, especially during the last half of it.

How can we avoid God’s judgment from coming on America?

There are things we can do!

  • We can personally repent of anything God calls sin in our own lives.
  • We can plead for God’s forgiveness for our nation and His people, standing in the gap for them.
  • We can seek to obey the Lord and cherish His Word.
  • We can lead our children in righteous ways and seek to raise them to know, love, and honor the Lord.
  • We can stand for God’s truth and His Life-giving Word.
  • We can seek to promote godly justice and set people free from oppression.
  • We can share the gospel of Jesus and encourage everyone to turn from sin and turn to Jesus to be saved and transformed.

Sometimes a nation’s sin is so severe that God doesn’t respond to prayers for those people anymore. He withdraws His hand and allows the people to reap the consequences of their sin and desires.

Things can get so bad that the Lord says that even if Noah, Job, and Daniel were here to pray for these people, they could save only themselves by their righteousness—ie: When His judgment was about to fall on Judah for their many sins, (Ezekiel 7-9.)

What do we do if God’s wrath falls on America?

If the Lord decides it is time to bring His holy and righteous judgment against our nation, we can’t stop Him. But we can seek to walk rightly ourselves and stand in the gap as much as possible.

  • We can trust Him and continue to seek and love Him with all our hearts.
  • We can invite Him to use our lives for His glory and seek to be faithful.
  • We can seek to reach many who are lost.
  • We can be willing and available instruments in God’s hands.
  • We can trust God to be with us and to lead us through.
  • We can remember how the Lord often removed His people before judgment fell (Noah, Lot and family) or marked them to spare them from His judgment (Ez. 9, the 144,000 during the Tribulation).
  • We can be ready each day for the Lord to call us home or to return to take His Bride home in the rapture.

Pray with me for America that we may repent and escape God’s judgment

We in America have rebelled against You greatly. Our sin is beyond comprehension. We are arrogant and prideful about it. Your name is mocked all day long in many places. We celebrate and glorify our sin.

It certainly looks like we are living in a time of the Great Apostasy, the Great Rebellion and falling away. We had Your truth and Your Word and we purposely, consciously rejected You and Your message of love and hope.

We ask for Your forgiveness for our sins individually, for Your church, and for our land. We pray that if You must bring judgment, that You might remember mercy. We thank You that You know best and You will do what is right.

Please help us to be faithful to You and to turn from every sin in our own lives. Use us to be salt and light for You. We pray that millions might turn back to You while there is still time.

We pray that Your Spirit might move powerfully in our midst and in our nation. Please wake up many and bring them safely into Your Kingdom.

You have been nothing but faithful and good to us, Lord. Help us to stand firm and remain faithful to You whatever may come. Be greatly glorified in our lives, in Your people, in America, and in every nation around the world.

The Blessing of Knowing About Hell

Preparing for Persecution for Our Faith in Christ in America

How to Have a Saving Relationship with Christ

A = Admit you are a sinner and you can’t be perfect and holy enough in God’s eyes to be right with Him on your own. Turn away from your sin.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Rom. 3:23

B = Believe that Jesus (God in the flesh) died on your behalf to pay the price for your sin and to give you a way to be right with God – to be forgiven. He lived the perfect life you couldn’t live. He died the death you deserve and rose from the dead in victory over sin, death, and the grave on your behalf!

“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus, our Lord.” Rom. 6:23

C = Confess that Jesus is your Lord – this means, Jesus is now your Master and you live your life for Him and His glory rather than for yourself. You say it out loud to others and you live it from now on. You lay down your will and your desires and follow Him, inviting Him to direct and use your life for His will.

“If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.” Rom. 10:9-10

Lordship Salvation by
Billy Graham: Have You Heard the Good News of Salvation?

  1. We as a WHOLE NATION MUST REPENT and turn from our WICKED WAYS. We must LOVE our neighbors, our King, and our enemies. We MUST be the Light in the dark place. The Bible says that ” …the kingdom of God suffered violence and the violent take it by force.” That was in the book of John. We MUST war by faith for God’s Kingdom to invade the Earth, for it is His anyway.

May He equip us to fight the good fight of faith and NOT FEAR anything! For if God be for us who can be against us!

May He bless and keep you all!

  2. Amen to all you you said April and Royalbutterfly8! April you recently wrote an artilce about 27 ways to be informed but not freak out. What has been very helpful for me this year is weekly emails from Intercessors For America which is a ministry/news soucrce that has articles about what’s going on in our country and world from a Biblical perspective. They start with a prayer for the issue/people. The also have links to click on to send messages to our state and national leaders. You can click on prayer walls and sign up for prayer times as well as join the Bible Read-A-Thon Over America. Additionally, there are articles to encourage us in our faith and people share dreams and testimonies of evidence of God’s movement in our country and in The Body.

  3. Hold Tight.

    Hang Tough.

    Look Up.

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” – Jesus, Luke 21:36
