Join Me in Spiritual Battle for Our Marriages, Families, and Nation

There is a massive onslaught of evil going on that is trying to destroy individuals, marriages, families, churches, and even nations.

The real enemy is spiritual and he always uses the same strategies:

  • Introduce lies and delusions to deceive people.
  • Divide people and get them to fight each other and see one another as enemies.
  • Steal from people the blessings and gifts God has given.
  • Kill and destroy people, relationships, and societies.
  • Create hatred and fear.
  • Appeal to people’s pride so they will forsake God’s Word and trust and exalt themselves, instead.

Sadly, many people fall for these same battle strategies every time.

This is a spiritual battle. So our approach must be with spiritual weapons. Fighting people will NOT work! It only creates more destruction.

Those who know Christ as Savior and Lord of all in our lives have access to spiritual weapons through Jesus and His finished work on the cross and in His resurrection.

Jesus already reigns in victory over the enemy, sin, death, and the grave. Now we take part in the battle. But not in our own power. We must only act in the power and authority of Jesus, seeking His will, and inviting His Spirit to work in and through us and others.

Let’s join forces in spiritual battle, sisters!

I’d like to really focus on coming together in this spiritual battle over the next week.

Our spiritual weapons include:

– Praising God
– Repentance from sin
– Humility
– The sword of the Spirit, the Bible
– The Holy Spirit
– The victory and righteousness of Christ
– Individual and corporate prayer
– Taking our thoughts captive to obey Christ

We are to put on the full armor of God (Eph. 6:13-17)

– The helmet of salvation
– The shield of faith
– The belt of truth
– The breastplate of righteousness
– Feet ready to share the gospel

If we are to come together to pray over our husbands, marriages, families, and nations in power, we must properly prepare our hearts and put on the full armor of God.

Step one = personal repentance and humility

The first thing we must do is repent of any sin in our own lives and humble ourselves before the Lord.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chron. 7:14

2 Chron. 7:14

Then we will be able to join together to pray in the Holy Spirit’s power and unity. More to come on this!

This Weekend’s Challenge

Repent of sin and ask God to help you produce the fruit of repentance.

1. Invite God to show you any sin in your life. (idolatry, disrespect, unbelief in Him, gossip, malice, hatred, contempt, bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, sinful anger, greed, selfishness, lust, sexual immorality, pride, self-righteousness, dishonesty, stealing, worldliness, perfectionism, people-pleasing, codependency, addictions, false teaching, open doors to the enemy, etc…)
2. Agree with God that anything He calls sin is evil and it has to go. Tear it all out, every shred of it. Invite God to cleanse you. Turn totally away from whatever sin God shows you.
3. Invite Jesus to reign on the throne of your life. Seek to exalt Him alone. Seek His will and His glory, not self and selfish desires. Agree to go His way from now on.
4. Go to any person you know you have wronged and apologize without justifying or excusing your sin. Simply say, “I did X and I was wrong to do that. I apologize for hurting you. I hope you will forgive me.” Don’t make them forgive you or press them about that. Don’t demand that they apologize for their sin right now. Their apologies and their forgiveness are between them and the Lord. Your job is simply to repent and apologize and invite God to help you change your ways.

If we hold onto sin in our own lives, our prayers will be hindered. We need to get rid of the sin that so easily entangles us so that our prayers can be as effective as possible.

Then God will open the storehouses of heaven and have wide channels in our lives to pour His blessings and healing into!

A preview of the next step

This weekend, we will pray together specifically for:
– Unsaved husbands and children in our midst.
– Hurting and broken marriages among us.
– Repentance and revival in our land (in each of our countries)

We will also be discussing the importance of fasting and inviting each of you to participate in fasting while we pray together.

Here is the post with the details about the 6 things to pray for and types of fasting you can choose to do.

Verses for the battle

* Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Eph. 6:10-12

* For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, 2 Cor. 10:3-5

* Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16

      1. Thanks April! I will be joining in prayer and fasting for my marriage and prodigal husband. We have a calling on our lives and work to do for the kingdom. This prayer is much needed.

        1. Robin Simmons,
Thanks for joining us. I pray for the Lord to raise your husband to new life in Christ, dear sister. And for you to be a useful instrument in His hand. <3

  1. I will be joining you April. I often forget that the evil that is happening is truly spiritual and I don’t remember in my lifetime ever seen such wickedness.

    1. Regina S – It is a dark time. The Lord is calling around the world for everyone to come to Him and to wake up while there is still time. May we use this time wisely and may we plead for the Lord’s will to be done and His kingdom to come that many might be gathered in safely into Christ’s salvation and eternal life. <3

  2. Such a timely and ripe opportunity to trust God for BIG things; prodigal’s returning, brokenness healed, and sorrows turned into joy. I want to help usher in those triumphs to God’s glory.

  3. I’ll be joining April. Something happened in my family recently and this is timely. I give God thanks.

    1. NKEDICHE,
Thank you for praying with me. We will invite God to do His miracles and to bring about His greatest glory in our lives and families, in our communities, and around the world! <3

  4. Thank y’all SO much for joining me! We need to be on our knees individually, but what great power we have when we come together as sisters in Christ, seeking the Lord together!

“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matt. 18:18-20

  5. Thank you for posting this. We as believers need to remember we are not fighting flesh and blood. There is a real spiritual battle going on that directs the moves of people. Just like how God uses humans as His hands and feet, Satan is doing the same. The battle is against him and his demons. I will join in prayer with my sisters in Christ.

  6. April, I just saw your posts and wanted to say “I’m in!”
One thing I would like more information about is fasting. I nearly never do it. The reasons for doing so seem ill-explained by both the Bible and study materials I’ve done some digging into. However, the few times i did, I have been amazed at the power displayed by the spirit. One time after fasting and praying about a matter that concerned me, someone whom I barely know stepped in and fought a battle for me. I was amazed!
I believe in it, but never have I understood the WHY of it, and nobody has been able to explain it in a way that I can grasp, though I’m sure many may consider it a bit basic.

    1. I just read your second post and it covers some of my questions and am now digging into your listed resources. I think my mortal mind and somewhat scientific brain wants the “if a +( b x c) results in solution of X. Spirit doesn’t work like that, does it? I get that we are to do it because if for no other reason than the Lord said to do it, but never received information as to why. My deficiency is somewhat appalling.

      1. Happily gave up,

There is a method to it, and there is godly wisdom in it. It is a way to draw closer to God by turning our attention totally to Him.

Here is a quote from http://www.gotquestions.org:
The theology of fasting is a theology of priorities in which believers are given the opportunity to express themselves in an undivided and intensive devotion to the Lord and to the concerns of spiritual life. This devotion will be expressed by abstaining for a short while from such normal and good things as food and drink, so as to enjoy a time of uninterrupted communion with our Father. Our “confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus” (Hebrews 10:19), whether fasting or not fasting, is one of the most delightful parts of that “better thing” which is ours in Christ. Prayer and fasting should not be a burden or a duty, but rather a celebration of God’s goodness and mercy to His children.

Here are some posts that may help to explain fasting in more detail:

        Much love!

    2. Happily gave up,

Yay! I’m so glad you are joining us!

I have a lot more about fasting in the next post and the links after that.

But fasting, I believe, is a way we can communicate to the Lord that we are seeking Him fervently and we are willing to give up some of our comforts to stop and appeal to Him.

      Much love, dear sister!

      1. Thank you so much for the additional references! However, I will be going on an electronic fast for 2 days so I’ll be studying Monday. Thanks and blessings on you for guiding we sisters to the Lord.

        1. I started my prayer time with praise this morning and this version of psalm 24 came me. I was lifting my hands in praise to God in my kitchen and moved by the conviction of his power and might. “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.”

  7. Thank you April~ for bringing us all together to join you in our spiritual battle. Joining forces is what it’s all about. There is strength in numbers. I’m IN!! Love you!! I saw your second post about fasting!!

    1. Jennifer,

Hooray! I’m so glad you are going to pray with us. When we pray in one Spirit and with unity for God’s will, it is amazing to see what He will do.

Thank you so much for joining. <3

  8. Thank you so much for your encouragement to pray and fast . I would very much like to join you as we come together in agreement . May the Lord be glorified. Amen

  9. I would like to join. Is it all weekend at any time? Is it possible to come with prayer requests for family members?

    1. Kristine,
Yes, you can join and pray all weekend and choose the type and length of fast you would like.
You may share prayer requests if you would like. <3

  10. I’m joining. I’m a person of color and all this hatred and evil aim seeing is so disturbing in the world. I just keep reminding myself that no matter how bad the world gets, we as Christians know how the story ends.

    1. Mary,
Thank you so much for joining us in prayer! The enemy of our souls wants so much for us to buy into hatred, division, and malice. He wants to destroy us all and grieve the heart of God.

But Jesus calls us to love God and love each other. That is how the world will know we are His, by our love for each other.

I believe that things may continue to worsen as we near the rapture of the church and the Tribulation time. Perhaps God, in His great mercy, will use all of the evil going on as a wakeup call. I’m so thankful that He can take what the devil and sinful people intend for evil and use it for great good. Many are coming to Christ in these past few months. May He bring a mighty harvest into His Kingdom in these last days while there is still a bit of time.

Praise God we know how the story ends and Jesus has the victory! May we each experience His victory in our lives and in our families and communities.

      Much love!

    2. Hi Mary,
I’m a black woman and am also disheartened by the chaos and division in the world right now. My heart breaks more than anything for all of the precious unborn children that are being destroyed by abortion. However, I keep my eyes on Christ and his promise. He in the end will be victorious against all evil.

As women of Christ, we should all commit to a holy hour of prayer and meditation on scripture every day. With that and pouring love on everyone we meet, we will change the world.

      1. Thank you for sharing, Nneka!

I am sure we are all extremely grieved at so many atrocities that are taking place. But you are right! We will keep our eyes on Jesus and trust Him. He will be victorious!

That is an awesome idea. It is a massive spiritual war and we need to use the spiritual weapons the Lord gives us. <3
