Are You Brave Enough to Ask God for This?

Due to hurricane Irma approaching soon, I am running the post I would have run on Monday, September 11th today instead. Join me in praying for those being impacted by Harvey, Irma, Katia, Jose, and the 8.1 earthquake in Mexico last night.  There are so many other significant crises around the world today that need our prayers, as well. This is a perfect time for us to join together as believers in prayer and fasting.

The “birth pangs” Jesus described that will lead up to the Great Tribulation sure seem like they are coming very quickly now. Let’s do all we can to be sure we are right with the Lord and right with other people. This is the time for the body of Christ to shine more brightly than ever before with the Gospel, with hope, with love, with tangible physical aid, and with the message of Good News for this dark world! It is a time to be united and to cast aside any divisions. Let’s be fully available to the Lord to do anything He may call upon us to do in this time. It’s a time to give up our personal agendas and plans and to be ready to plug in wherever God wants us to.

Are you prepared to wholeheartedly say to God:

“Lord, I want ALL of Your perfect will for me and nothing outside of Your will no matter what it may be and no matter what it costs me”?

What is your initial response when you think about praying such a bold prayer? Are you excited and ready for a lifetime of incredible adventure with your Lord? Or does this idea make you freak out? Does it seem too radical? Too scary?

Our natural sinful tendency when we think about completely trusting God and His will for our lives is fear.

We tend to be afraid that maybe if we fully trust God, He might do something like:

  • Hold out on us.
  • Do something to hurt us.
  • Not really know what is best as much as we do.
  • Be too wimpy to really help us.
  • Lie to us.
  • Purposely want to cause us pain just to see us suffer for no reason.
  • Not care when we are hurting.
  • Ignore us.

Of course Satan would love for us to believe these lies about God. Interestingly, when we believe these lies about God, we are actually trusting Satan and we don’t even realize it. Not only are these lies not true about the God of the Bible, but each of these lies are really true about the devil. He wants us to be deceived into believing that God is bad and scary and that if we choose another path, any other path, it is good and safe.

But there is no goodness apart from the Lord.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights,” James 1:17

Let’s begin with the premise that the Bible is the source of all truth. According to the Bible, there are only two sources of spiritual information: God and Satan. So the question becomes – “Whom will I trust?” These are my only two real choices. If I don’t trust God and His Word, I am trusting Satan and his word, even if I think I am simply trusting myself.

We know many extremely important things about God and His character from scripture that make it entirely reasonable and rational to trust Him fully.

How could I not trust such a One? Is my character or my wisdom superior to His?

Once we belong to Jesus Christ, God melts away our fear (1 John 4:18). Now we no longer have to fear losing our illusion of control. We never did have control anyway! God has always been sovereign. And now we rejoice because this is a very GOOD thing, not a scary thing!

If I really know who God is – THEN I can pray very boldly for God’s total will for my life without any fear. In fact, I know that to desire anything else would be dangerous and extremely foolish.

When I know who God is, I can trust Him – just like if I had a loving earthly Daddy. I knew I could always trust my Daddy to do what was best for me, even if I didn’t understand it at the moment. How much more will our perfect heavenly Father do what is best and give us what is best? Not in our wisdom but in His wisdom. Not what is best in the moment, but what is best in light of eternity. The more I taste and see how good He is, the easier and easier it is to trust Him with everything in my life. And the stronger my faith grows.

Even if I have to face significant trials, which I will, I know He will be with me and I know they will bring about great good for His kingdom and for me in the end.

Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.” John 4:34

Jesus is not asking us to do anything for Him that He hasn’t already done:

  • Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Matt. 16:24
  • “Nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done.” Luke 22:42

I encourage you to sincerely pray a prayer in faith today to receive all of God’s will and to desire nothing apart from His will in your life. Get ready for an incredible life of adventure with God as you allow Him total access to all of yourself and all that you have.

This is what it means for Jesus to be Lord. This is what He calls all believers to do. This is Christianity.

There will be opposition for anyone who lives for Christ. So expect that. But if the sovereign God of the universe is for you, who can be against you?

If you are not ready to completely trust God with everything right now – pray that God will help you be able to get to this point ASAP. If you need resources or encouragement, please let me know.

I want each of us to know without any doubt that we are in right relationship with God and to have His power to be in right relationship with other people as much as it depends on us. None of us are guaranteed another day on this earth. Let’s be ready for whatever may come.

  • If you have gotten to this place of total surrender to God’s will and want to share about how you arrived here, please share in the comments to encourage others.
  • If you are afraid to trust God fully like this and want people to pray for you and you need encouragement, please share in the comments, as well.

Much love to each of you! I am praying for you all!

  1. The Lord has directed me to pray that my entire being down to the molecular and synaptic level line up to the Word and will of God anything that falls outside of the Word and will of God be cut off in Jesus name.

( to pray at that synaptic level allows God access to even our pre-thoughts before they even occur)

    1. Heather Roberts,

I have never heard of praying at a molecular and synaptic level – but I love it. I love that you want to be completely and entirely consecrated to the Lord and you want to live in His holiness. 🙂

  2. I have read so many of your posts and they have convicted me so much. What I keep coming back to though is do I really trust God and believe His word. I am praying every day that my trust in Him will grow. Thanks so much for blog and always bringing our focus back to God.

    1. Tina,
That is what we must each ask ourselves. I pray this along with you – for you – and for all of us. That we might grow by leaps and bounds in faith in our great God!

I’m so honored to have the opportunity to be here. I count myself to be extremely blessed to get to watch God heal and transform thousands of lives around the world for His glory.

      Much love!

  3. Thanks, April, for this timely post. I’m praying that through all that is happening with “nature” at this time God’s power and goodness will be evident to all. <

    1. ronfurg,

Thanks so much! I am praying this, too. May we clearly hear God calling to each of us that we need Him and may we turn to Him. He has generously given us so much time to come to Him. But this large window of grace cannot stay open forever. May we take advantage of the ability we have to receive His love and Lordship today.

  4. I want to but I’m still having fears and really could use prayers to get me too the right place in my heart to be ready. Thank you!

    1. Leslie Grimm,

If you want to talk about the fears, please let me know.

You may also search my home page for “fear” for a number of posts.

Praying for God’s victory in your life and for you to have the courage to face your fears and decide to trust them to God. He loves you SO VERY MUCH! I pray you will rest in His love for you.

      Much love, precious sister!

      1. Leslie,

PS – if you click on the links about the various qualities of God, there are articles about each one. They may be helpful as you seek to shoot down your fears and trust God. 🙂

        1. Thank you so much! I will check out the links. I appreciate all your prayers and I will continue to pray for God’s guidance and intercession in my journey.

    2. Two things that have helped me through the struggle I’m going through now and fighting the fear is remembering that God has not given us a spirit of fear. That is from the enemy. Also, that God has a purpose for what I’m going through. I HAVE to remember that God loves me through everything I go through! Hope this helps some Leslie.

  5. IT is my earnest desire to do what pleases God, be who He’s called me to be even in the face of opposition. It’s be very hard, please pray the God will guide and strengthen me to bring glory to His name.

    1. Uzoma,

It is very hard. We can’t do it on our own, that is for sure! But I know God will give us victory as we depend on Him and trust Him. And I am so thankful He gives us each other and we can pray for and encourage one another. Praying for Him to empower you to live in His victory, my precious sister!

  6. I have been feeling led that I need to pray, daily, for revival to sweep through our country. I know if it is God’s will, that it is certainly a possibility for a great revival to break out. When things seem bleak, I need to remind myself to pray for revival.

@ Heather, very interesting, the “synaptic level”. I certainly would love for God to access my pre-thoughts, as my thoughts are often what get me into trouble. I’m getting better, but I often succumb to negative thinking. So I find your comment very interesting.

@Tina, @Leslie, and @Uzoma – I have just prayed for you brave ladies and will continue to do so.

On a different note, I heard today about a celebrity who is blaming “mother nauture’s wrath” on our country’s politics. It boggles my mind what some folks will say, and possibly even believe. I agree with you April, that these events certainly seem like the birth pangs that Jesus described. I take great comfort in knowing God is in complete control, and we do not need to fear.

    1. Becca,

I am so thankful you are praying for revival for our country, as well. It is increasingly obvious that we are not going to do well if we keep trying to handle things without the Lord.

Thank you for your encouragement and prayers for our sisters, Becca. You are such a blessing to me!

I, also, take such comfort in God’s goodness, sovereignty, and love. In fact, it is possible that He will use these awful things to soften many hearts and to bring about a Great Awakening. These storms may bring the answers to our prayers for our nation. Perhaps they will help develop a spirit of unity that we need so desperately. I will continue to trust and praise Him!

Check out what Radiant shared yesterday and has allowed me to share:

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land “(2 Chronicles 7:14).

In the face of all our land needs healing from – and catastrophe and war threats increasing around the world every week – We have something way more powerful to do than worry and fear or be angry.
We can humble ourselves, repent of our own wrong and the wrong of our fathers, our groups, our schools, our businesses, our churches, our country. And turn to Jesus – our beautiful Hope. The One who speaks Light into darkness and can bring life from death. Who turns ashes to beauty The One who achieved total victory at the Cross. He is faithful and true; no matter what crazy, fearful thing surfaces next.

We praise You Jesus and lift all of our burdens and the turmoil of our own hearts and lives, as well as our homes, neighborhoods, cities, churches, offices, nation and the world to You.
Unless the Lord watches over the city, they who watch it labor in vain. We desperately need You, Your love, Your presence, Your forgiveness and You making us new. Nothing else will do. No other hope exists.

Thank You that You promise to be near to the broken hearted and contrite. Forgive our pride and self-focus. Only You can bring peace and wash away the hurt and violence in our hearts and land. Only You can set us free. Only You can heal our land.

King of Glory, come close to each heart, home, city, and state. Reveal your amazing love to each of us. Turn us into a Bride clothed with Your love, strength, Truth and dignity whose lamp doesn’t go out in dark places. Whose lips share words of love and kindness instead of pointing fingers. Who can laugh at the future. Who reach out to the poor and captive ones. Who know You and Your love so well, that it fills us up and overflows life and beauty and healing to everyone around us.

We praise You for all you are about to do. We speak your life and light and salvation into every hurting heart. Thank You!

  7. I will pray for all of you ladies! Every night I ask for God;s strength & wisdom to do His Will. Envision yourself latching on to Jesus’ vine. I want to “ripen” into a beautiful women as April mentions in her incredible, beautiful prayers in her book- Peaceful Wife– I love them April! As much as we want to continue to grow and serve the Lord, I have realized that consistency is more important than growth. I do not beat myself up anymore because the spiritual maturation process never stops. Blessings and Safe travels. Jennifer

    1. Jennifer Thomas,

LOVE that! Andrew Murray write a lot about abiding in the Vine. He said the branch’s only job is just to sit there and stay attached to the vine and receive all of that nourishing sap. That’s it. All we have to do is rest and receive from Jesus – and He will flow through us to empower us to bear much fruit for His glory.

So thankful God used those prayers to bless you.

I’m so glad you don’t beat yourself up but just realize this is a lifetime of learning and growing. That is a great way to look at it.

We aren’t perfect in this life. But Jesus is, and He can give us power to do things we could never do on our own!

  8. This is an important post dear April, thank you! I love the urgency in this post. We are learning that when the floods and fires come a raging, God is calling us to cling onto Him for dear life so that we don’t get washed away. We have believed so many lies of the enemy, and feared God in all the wrong ways. How could we not trust Him with every minute of our existence, every cell of our being, He who gave us life and the gift of His son!

So many of us spend our whole lives blinded by the gifts of God that we forget to go through to the other side of those to where God Himself awaits us with open arms. His will is the only thing that is good. I have always had a silent fear that God might take me on a path of suffering that would mean giving up things I didn’t want to give up, but I have found that partial obedience brings more pain than anything. It is easy for us to say we want to live God’s will, I have said it many times, but I can honestly say I am completely committed to doing God’s will for me, whatever it takes. Whatever I will lose of what little I have left. And I am so excited to see what God has planned for me! Just this realization opens up a huge strength and peace in me.

My dearest wish and prayer for all of is to have that peace that surpasses human understanding, to throw our rotten selves unreservedly into God’s divine arms and beg for mercy for our own rotten selves, and for all people. There really is no better time to do this than now!

Bless you for your important ministry, dear April, may God continue to guide you to lead with wisdom!

  9. Thank you for this April. It is wonderful to contemplate the source of all things and just how GOOD he is.

    If I may share…

I have a friend who is the mother of 5 sons, all born without any pain medication at all. Her youngest is 10 months. She now says she is terrified to get pregnant again because she is SO aware of just how painful it is.

It was so with the Lord and I.

I had fervently prayed for His complete will in my life. With each continual carving (cutting off what does not look like His Son) I became soberly aware of the process. It is painful! I started to brace myself, to hold on, to resist. I (recently) have not been good clay in the hands of my Potter. But, GOD is GOOD!! And His Mercy Endures forever! And He still loves me & tells me…I need to be fearless.

So, I let go, into the arms of my Father.

There are still SO many who do not know Him!

    Send me!

Your post pointed me back to Him. (Praise Him!) May the Lord continue to bless your ministry, your household, and your walk with Him.

Thank you Lord, for Your great patience toward us willing that we all reach repentance. We have greatly sinned against You – Denying you in our thoughts, words, actions, and hearts. Have mercy Father as the world rages around us and stir up Your church to do Your will! Raise. Us. Up!

In the Name and Power of our Savior & Redeemer.

    In the Name of Jesus!

    1. A Realistic Wife,

Thank you for sharing. I love that description of how God cuts off the things in our lives that do not look like Jesus. It is painful – but in a good, healing way. Thank you so much for sharing. I can’t wait to see all that He has in store for you!

  10. Help! I need some advice on how to handle how I’m feeling right now. Approximately seven weeks ago my husband told me that because of my horrible uncalled for jealous and my insecurity which was causing me to sneak around and check up on him, that he didn’t know if he wanted to be married to me anymore. I understand that he is very upset with me. But, right now I am feeling a lot of anger. Why does he get to decide if he’ll forgive me and if I’ll change or not or if he wants to stay in the marriage? During this time he has not touched me or told me that he loves me. I am having a quiet time every morning with God and learning what He says about me every day. This is the first time that I have felt such anger and I’m having a hard time moving past it. Once a week my girls have always stayed with my mom so we could have time alone. I now dread it! I don’t want to be alone because all I keep thinking about is our situation and how he feels! Thanks for any advice you have!

    1. Tina,

Ok. I know your temptation is going to be to freak completely out.

      Don’t do it.

I just read back through all of your posts. It sounds like it may not be too late to turn things around if you are willing to abandon your old ways and change to doing things God’s way.

Please check out “When Your Husband Says ‘I’m Done.'”

Let’s just be still. Don’t rush ahead. Don’t ream your husband out. Don’t nag. Don’t make demands. Don’t lash out.

Just be still before the Lord. See what He wants to change. Humble yourself and deal with the sin in your heart first. We will pray for the Lord to heal you both.

      1. April,

Thanks so much for your concern and love for us women!

Honestly, I’ve done a lot of mumbling under my breath today but I never said anything to my husband. I read something the other day that said “Faith it ’til you make it” so I did that. I spoke respectfully and was as positive as I could be. During work today I took my spiral bound notecards to the restroom so I could read Bible verses I’ve written down to help calm myself 🙂

We had a women’s conference this past Saturday at our church and God revealed to me that I’ve been carrying around shame from over 30 years ago I then gave that as a praise in my Sunday school yesterday. I woke up this morning mad so I’m sure the enemy is wanting to fail in my relationship with my husband since I had such a victorious weekend.

My husband is still in our home and we have been able to talk quite a bit about the situation and he said that he believes there is hope. He just doesn’t want to pick up where we left off and then me act the same way again. I have done that in the past but this time I am really digging into God’s Word and working on me.

As a praise, we have always gone away in January for our anniversary. He used extra vacation days this year because I ruined his last few days off. Because of this he may not have the days available for our anniversary get-a-way. Tonight, he said if things keep going well he would really like for us to still go but is trying to figure out a way we can do that!

I have had my husband as an idol for 23 years now! I truly do not want to get back to that spot and I want God to keep me where I am until He feels like I am working on that. I know I’m a work in progress but I get really frustrated that it takes me so long to learn some lessons 🙂

Thank you again for taking the time to comment. I have read the blog post and am now reading the comments which are also very helpful. I pray that God will continue to bless your ministry to women!

        1. Tina,

I like that! “Faith it till you make it.” Of course, we will be doing that faith thing all the time. 🙂

Praise God that you see that you have been carrying shame and that you realize you can let it go and receive healing from Him! That is AWESOME!

Yes, be mad at the enemy. He is the one who wants to steal, kill, and destroy in your life. Your husband is not your enemy. And God can give you victory over Satan’s plans as you allow Him to fill you up and you yield to Him as LORD. 🙂

I am so glad that he believes there is hope. That is AWESOME news! And I am also glad he is being honest about that things need to be different.

What a precious and loving thing for him to do to try to make January work out for a trip, still.

Just a reminder, there are other things you can search on my home page search bar that may be a blessing:

          – husband emotions
          – signs your husband is feeling disrespected
          – signs your husband is starting to trust you again
          – husband idol
          – fear
          – control
          – Respect Dare day 1 expectations

Also, on my Youtube channel, April Cassidy, you may want to check out:

          – Taking Our Thoughts Captive
          – I Want to Connect with My Husband More

          Much love!

          1. I think one of the things that I was getting hung up on is that since my husband wouldn’t forgive me yet that I wasn’t forgiven by God, even though I know that’s a lie. Working on daily taking my thoughts captive and lining them up with truth 🙂

            1. Tina,

God’s forgiveness is most important. You can’t make your husband forgive you. But God can forgive you – if you truly repent – even if people haven’t forgiven you yet. That is SUCH good news! Your husband’s forgiveness is really between himself and the Lord.

So glad you are seeing truth. God’s truth sets us free!

  11. Amen!

For me Psalm 37:3-5 has really helped to get to some practical direction:

Psalm 37:3 Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) in the Lord and do good; so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed.
4Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.
5Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.

Some guidance for me from the Lord:
    1. Trust in Him
    2. Be obedient to Him (Do good)
    3. Delight myself in the Lord
    4. Commit my way to the Lord

This is very strong and guiding me as I am unclear of what to do about various things in my life. I will keep on focusing on what God revealed to me. Please pray for me for perseverance of what He is calling for in these verses.

May this great ministry be blessed richly!

    1. TransformingHeart,

Thank you so much for sharing. I love that passage. And something I think I used to miss with verse 4 is that – as we delight in Him, He transforms our desires to be more and more about Him and His will. How cool is that? Then we get to rejoice when we see His will come to pass and we have more and more of Him in our hearts.

Those are 4 very solid concepts to build your spiritual life on. Beautiful!

  12. I am afraid to totally surrender my will to God. I know I need to but I always hold back. I have been hurt so much by people I trusted that I’m scared to let God. Pray for me that I would, very soon, be able to surrender my all.

  13. Even if I have to face significant trials, which I will, I know He will be with me and I know they will bring about great good for His kingdom and for me in the end.

I think that is the most important thought for me. God has worked so many good things as He refined me. Satan is desperate that we lean away from God he tries to makes us believe that we will be safer in the material, flesh world as it is perceptible. It is the same when we are repelling down a cliff with a rope. If we try to stay to close to the rock we lose our footing and will hit the rock. We must lean back and use our feet to push against the rock while the rest of our body is in the hands of someone who one truly trusts.

I am praying that we are all able to lean back and into God’s completely trustworthy Hands.

    1. Jesuscentreoflife,
That is beautiful! Thank you very much for that helpful word picture.

May the Lord continue to richly bless your faith and walk with Christ. I pray for His healing for you and your wife and family.

        1. Jesuscentreoflife,

I am so very sorry to hear about your uncle’s passing. My deepest sympathies to you and your family. May your visit with your family be a blessing to all of you and a comfort. And may the Lord, Himself, bring comfort and peace to you all.
