A Big Praise Report and I Turned 48!

Many of you prayed for me a few months ago because I had a lot of health issues going on. I want to report multiple praises to God. ????

  • My hormones have miraculously been completely normal for the last 3 months after 2-3 years of things being rough. ????– I have energy. What a blessing!
  • I can tolerate sugar (sucrose) now. Better than ever. I have had digestive problems my whole life because of this (unbeknownst to me), but in recent weeks, my tummy issues seem to be totally healed! ????

I can eat veggies and fruits and bread!! Normal food!!! ACK!!!!!!! I’m so excited!

For my 48th birthday last week, I tried half of a brownie and felt great! ????

I can’t imagine what that would have done to me a few months ago. It feels very surreal that I can eat so many more foods now.

April Cassidy turns 48 years old!

I just want to invite you to rejoice with me and praise God with me. Thank you to those who prayed for me. What incredible blessings! I am extremely grateful.

The greatest birthday gift you could give me is to pray for my family, the Lord’s leading for me, His protection, and His greatest glory in my life.

And please pray for all who will read on my sites that the Lord might use every word to draw people to know Jesus as Savior and Lord and to live wholeheartedly for Him. Please also pray for America, the Church, and the world, that God might draw millions to Himself in these times.

Some of you may enjoy an update on our Siberian Forest Cat, Silver. He’s doing well. He’ll turn 7 this May. He is still a very handsome fella.

My husband and kids are doing well, too. I am working back at my family’s office again after 11 months of working from home. I’m working some extra hours now and Greg has gone out of his way to help with laundry and supper. He treats me like a queen and is so thoughtful and kind.

Honestly, sometimes I feel like anything I could do to thank him for all he does for me and the kids would be totally inadequate. What a different family life we have now from when I began this journey in December of 2008 and we were both so miserable.

Back then, he was completely shut down. He didn’t want to be around me, touch me, or talk with me. Back then, I didn’t think he could be a good leader or a godly husband. But I decided to start doing things God’s way instead of my way, even though it made no sense to me, at first.

Turns out, God’s ways are infinitely better than my ways. And His wisdom is infinitely higher than mine. He healed and transformed me. And slowly, he healed and transformed my husband, our marriage, and our children.

We are not perfect. We will always have more refining to undergo and more learning to do at the feet of Jesus as long as we are in this life. But we are not the same people we were from 1994 to 2008.

I thank God for His miracles and His leading that is available to anyone who chooses to put their faith in Jesus and yield to His Lordship. May He continue to lead each of us and may He be greatly glorified in all of our lives.

I could never have imagined what God had in store.

When I realized what a mess I had made in my marriage and began to ask God to change me, I had no idea that I would ever share anything with any other wife.

I spent 3-5 hours per day 7 days per week for a few years reading books on godly womanhood and marriage, journaling, praying, and asking God to help me understand His design for me as a woman and wife and for marriage.

It blew my mind when Greg asked me, a few years later, to share what I had learned from the Lord with other wives. He has been my biggest fan and supporter ever since.

I’m so thankful for y’all!

Can I just say what an honor and joy it is for me to get to share with you here? I never get tired of seeing lightbulbs go on and watching God do miracles in women’s lives, marriages, husbands, and children.

I pray that the Lord may richly bless you, your walk with Jesus, your marriage, your family, and your ministry.

Below is a pic of me around the time I started blogging in 2012. How crazy is it that it has been over 9 years?!?!

Thanks for hanging out with me! Much love!

My Books Are Available

If you’d like to follow along with me on my journey from anxious, stressed out, Type A wife and mom to learning God’s ways, I have all the baby steps that God showed me in these books.

These are the resources I WISH I had when I started this journey in 2008. My prayer is that God may use me to connect the dots a lot closer together for those who come behind me so that maybe it won’t take so many years for things to click for other wives as it did for me.

  1. Curious if Greg ever misses the ”old” April? My Dad had two wives…my mom and then my stepmom. They are both pretty crazy ladies and my dad is now passed away. They had their good moments of course but each of them has been been diagnosed with a personality disorder by therapists my siblings and I have seen. One therapist said my dad had a “high tolerance for crazy”. In any case my goal in life is to not be like them and to be close to Jesus. How sad it is in the current culture that we have to dig and find Titus mentors to show us the way? But I’m so eternally grateful for those willing to come along side me and be patient to wait for the lightbulb moments to come on. One friend in particular spent a good year just emailing, meeting with me and mentoring me as I started homeschooling and getting detangled from my family of origin.

    1. Sahmpaw,

I don’t think Greg misses the old me. Some men do have a high tolerance and patience level. But honestly, I wish Greg had told me 27 years ago that what I was doing was harmful. I had no idea!

Yes, being close to Jesus is the best goal in the world!

It is hard to find Titus 2 mentors today, yes. SO thankful for the women who are standing in the gap and blessing other women, teaching them God’s ways and His wisdom.

      Much love!

      1. I apologize for being a bit off topic. Your praise report is amazing! I have dealt with similar health trials and food intolerances but didn’t heal without the help of homeopathy. You are blessed! Have a great weekend!

        1. Sahmpaw,

          No problem!

Yes I had used homeopathy, clean eating, acupuncture, Western medicine, restrictive diets, digestive enzymes, and all kinds of things. And, of course, prayer
          Blessings on you, dear sister!

  2. I am so happy to hear this!! Thank you for all you do and sharing! Praise God!!

  3. April, that is wonderful news! Praise God that you have been feeling better. God is so good. And I appreciate you sharing the good news with us. We need to learn to praise God more. Every day! I will continue to stand with you in prayer on the items you mentioned. I can’t believe Silver is seven and that you have been blogging for nine years! Thank you for being a blessing to me and so many others. Your books are two of my very favorite and have helped me so much. Blessings to you and your family.

    1. Bridget A. Thomas,

He IS so good! It’s great to be able to celebrate Him together.

Thank you for praying with me.

Crazy that it has been over 9 years, isn’t it?

I love your book, too, sweet sister. There is no better cure for selfishness than thankfulness.

      Much love!

    1. Jennifer,
I just had to share the miracles God did. What an encouragement to us all to seek Him in prayer.

      Thank you for your prayers!

I pray I might be exactly where God wants me to be doing all that He calls me to do by His strength. I pray that for each of us!

      Much love,
      April

  6. Just wanna say – thank you from the bottom of my heart, for following God’s will and sharing it with all of us.
You are a part of my life for the past 7 years and you are like a friend to me.
My life and the life of my family has changed dramatically. Not in a way that I imagined or thought would be good for any of us, but as for me – I have never been happier in my entire life and it is like that for the past year and a half! Our family is greatly blessed and I can not expeess enough how humbly greatful I am to our Lord for this gift.
Dear April, may God continue leading and blessing you, Greg, your kids and entire family and rverything you do.
    Thank you! ????
    Kind regards,
    Irena Lella

  7. April,
I’m PRAISING GOD with you for all your healings!! SOOO HAPPY your feeling better precious woman of God!! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!! I don’t know where to begin telling how much you have blessed my life.

I’m in a very difficult marriage my husband has a lot he’s battling against. On our honeymoon I watched him change from a EXTREMELY LOVING fiance, to a not so nice husband. God showed me the scripture in 1st Peter 3 eleven years ago. He told me to be a WIFE WITHOUT A WORD who would win her husband by her pure godly behavior!! I come from a line of VERY STRONG WOMEN.
I was raised in a Christian home, but unfortunately a lot of my family have big mouth problems me included.

I have changed some over the years, but I know I should be way further along. I still have a problem returning insults when he insults me, and saying things I should not say.

One day I was digging around on YouTube and typed in peaceful wife, I know it was God who led me right to you. God had me order your book the peaceful mom first. I just received it a couple weeks ago and I’m so happy to have it in my possession. After I read through it take notes, and soak it in, I will be ordering the peaceful wife next. I have five children so I need to be a peaceful mom too. For some reason after reading the reviews of your book, The Lord told me to order the peaceful mom book first, so I obeyed.

I have felt very discouraged because I’ve been married fourteen years and have not changed as much as I should as I said earlier. So when I heard you say you were married 14 years before you started changing I was just overwhelmed!! It made me feel like I still have time and it will make a big difference no matter when I started its important that I start making real serious change. God has used you to teach me so much!! I’m so thankful that you told us you had to spend the time you did in studying. That speaks SO MUCH TO ME and made me REALLY REALIZE the emphasis I need and time I need to study the word and other books that will help me be a better wife & mom.

Thank you soo much for all your teachings, blogs, videos & books!! You are helping me become a better wife & mother. With Gods help I’m going to make the big changes I need too!!

    ♥️♥️♥️ Love,
    Mandy

    1. Mandy Moore,

Thank you for rejoicing with me and for the birthday wishes. <3

I'm so sorry things are very difficult in your marriage. That breaks my heart. But I love your desire to honor the Lord and do things His way.

I think The Peaceful Mom is a wonderful place for you to start. It has all the deepest riches and treasures of God that we need to build a great foundation spiritually for ourselves and our children. (And has a lot of help for all of our relationships.)

I'm so thankful that some of the things I have shared have been a blessing to you. It sounds like the marriage dynamics you are experiencing may be a lot different from mine. So if you need to reach out for one-on-one help in person with someone you can trust to help with serious issues, I pray God will give you that wisdom and the resources you need.

It is never too late for us to turn to God and invite Him to work His miracles and His will in our lives as long as we are on this earth!

I felt very upset to realize I had squandered 14+ years of our marriage inadvertently. Not realizing I had hurt my husband so deeply. I didn't understand why someone couldn't have told me about these things that first summer when things started to go wrong and we quickly got into a dysfunctional rut.

But now I know that God is redeeming those 14 years. He is using all of that time and all of the tiny baby steps I had to learn to be a blessing to my sisters in the Lord and to many marriages and families around the world.

At first, I wanted to hide my sin and not let anyone know. I tore up all of my journals from those first few years. My thoughts were so awful. I didn't want anyone to see them as God was working with me to change them. Now I realize, those would have been great post material! Ha!

I don't hide my sin now. I don't want to go back to it. But if God can use my mistakes and faults to help draw other women to His heart and if He wants to showcase His ability to transform my big mess into something beautiful for His glory, I'm on board with it! I'll share the icky stuff if it will help other people get to Jesus and His healing.

Yes, it was VERY labor intensive for me to figure out and understand all the wrong ways of thinking I had built my life on for 36 years and to tear out all the wrong stuff and rebuild with God's truth.

There was one book I read every day over and over for 3 months to help me really begin to change my thought patterns and core beliefs about Greg and myself.

I thank and praise God for all He has done in your life, all He is doing, and all that He is about to do! I can tell from your spirit that God is about to do HUGE things in your life. I'm so excited to watch Him create a beautiful masterpiece in your life.

Praying for the Lord's healing, provision, leading, and miracles for your family and marriage.

      Much love!
      April

      1. Thank you sooo much April for your response!! Do you mind sharing with me the name of the book and author that you refer to? The one that you spent three months reading over and over : ) I love hearing howGod has redeemed your marriage it just gives me fuel to keep going!!!

        1. Mandy Moore,
I can share it with you, of course! It was The Surrendered Wife by Laura Doyle. The only caveat is that there are some unbiblical principles in that book, too. I had to do a good bit of filtering out the unhelpful stuff.

The new thinking about her husband and herself parts are helpful. But the part about coming up with your own god and being a goddess are rather problematic.

That’s one reason I wanted to write my own book.

I’m so glad my story has been a blessing to you!
