My Prayer for Your Marriage and Family

Lord,

Thank You for this new week.  Thank You for the gift of life and the gift of marriage, children and families.  Thank You for Your Word.  Thank You for Your example for us and the life of Christ.  Thank You for Your Holy Spirit’s power to enable us to live out Your will even in our weakness.  We praise You for being the only true God.  You alone are God, there is no other.  We praise You for being the only Creator.  We thank and praise You for Your wisdom!  Thank You for creating relationships, and thank You for love, hope, peace, joy and faith.  All that we have is from You.  Thank You for supplying our daily needs so far above all we deserve.

I pray that You might convict us of every trace of sin.  Expose our pride, our hatred, our bitterness, our un-forgiveness, our fear, our worry, our desire to control people/things that are not ours to control, our lust for what is not rightfully ours, our impatience, our arrogance, our apathy, our hypocrisy.  Expose our sin and remove it all from our souls.  Cleanse us and make us whiter than snow by Jesus’ blood!

I lift up each wife who reads this prayer and their husbands and children to Your throne room in heaven.  Bless each of these marriages richly, Lord!  Let each husband and wife be close to You and empowered by Your Spirit to represent the beauty and the very great mystery of the relationship between Christ and His church in their marriages.  Let each couple shine brightly for You – a city on a hill that cannot be hidden.  Let their children see an accurate reflection of Christ in their daddies.  Let them see a beautiful picture of the reverence and love of the church for Jesus in their mamas.  Use each marriage to draw their children and many others to the glory of the gospel of Christ.  Help each of us respect our husbands and submit to their leadership, trusting You to lead us through our husbands.  Help us to display proper submission to God-given authority to our children.  Help our husbands to have Your wisdom and love to demonstrate the love of Christ to us and to our children and to lead us according to Your will.  Let our children know Who You are through our marriages and our love for them.

Give us and our husbands Your wisdom to guide, teach, train, love, discipline and raise our children.  Let us address the heart, not just outward behavior.  Use us to instill the Word of God into our children’s tender hearts.  I pray for the salvation and sanctification of each of our children and that You might make each one a faithful servant of Christ who brings many into the kingdom of heaven!

Use us to bring salt and light to our families, our churches, our neighborhoods, our city, our nation and the world.

We love You above all else!  We commit our lives to You.  We want to love what You love and hate what You hate.  Make us holy, mature, complete, set apart for Your use.  Let us have willing spirits, ready to do anything You ask of us.  Let us have ears that are sensitive to Your voice and feet that are quick to obey Your commands.  Let Your grace, mercy, forgiveness and love flow through us, bringing life to all those around us.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen!

You are more than welcome. It is my prayer that God will restore marriages all over His church! We must have healthy, godly marriages to raise a godly generation and to have a powerful witness for Christ!

My husband rocks bsuacee he has given his all to be obedient to God Especially in our marriage and in reaching out to widows and orphans. We are very pro-life and he has wanted to take in children who were at risk (either through potential abortion or other risks). We have three natural children and so far we have adopted 5 at risk children and he has done a wonderful job of turning his normal retirement age into a time of still working (as we need the money) and caring for these children. There are still 3 of our children home and they have special needs. My hubby is great!
